Sci-Fi – Where Is Good Sci-Fi Going?

Oh Where Has All The Sci-Fi Gone?

I have been a TV Sci-Fi fan for many years – well at least since the Beatles came! But, lately they are all fading away. True some stories have concluded such as LOST and Battlestar Galactica. Yes, at least LOST did conclude, even if there were many questions unanswered by fans.

To fill some gaps in Battlestar Galactica, they went to a time before the series, by producing a video and a TV prequel series called Caprica. It has now ended after its first season; upsetting, but at least we got an idea of where those robots came from and why they would go to war later.

Apparently another prequel series called Battlestar Galactica – Blood and Chrome will be coming soon. Please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlestar_Galactica:_Blood_%26_Chrome

Lately though, Sci-Fi shows are being cut before I/We get a chance to fully experience a story line.

He looks so sad!

ABC canceled Defying Gravity after 8 episodes, without airing all of it’s planned (and filmed) thirteen episodes. You will have to wait for a DVD set before you learn the real ending to the first season of the show. It’s unclear whether episodes will end up on a DVD, or even if a DVD would be sold.

My Star Wars Hoth Battle Diorama

I spent TV time watching Star Trek in my teens and 20’s. The epic Star Wars Sagas passed me by, as I was busy with family and business in my 30’s and 40’s. Later, I watched them all. I was also interested because I was detailing and finishing Star Wars models during the 90’s.

Recently, I have watched many new Sci-Fi series. I believe the series that I consider an equal of sorts to Star Trek is the Stargate TV series showsStargate, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe. Great acting, superb action, wonderful humor/comedy, great stage props, exciting story lines, and not to heavy for family watching.

Stargate has had a long run and aired on Syfy since 2002.

I’ve really enjoyed the characters in the latest series Stargate Universe, but Syfy (USA) announced that it won’t renew it for a third season, putting an end (for now) to the long-running Stargate franchise on the network. ‘Another one *bites the dust’. * “There must be a plot ‘out there’ to replace real Sci-Fi with those ‘Fanged Zombies”.

Another of my favorite Sci-Fi shows is FRINGE

It is in it’s 3rd season and hanging in there for now, although it has presently been moved to the Friday evening ‘death slot’.
